Description

1789 TOKEN Mott Token, Thick Planchet, Plain Edge MS61 Brown PCGS. Breen-1020. Once considered an 18th-century issue, the Mott Token has since been punch-linked to the Hard Times era of the 1830s. The golden-brown surfaces are well preserved aside from a solitary faded pinscratch in the right obverse field. The die break on the northwest corner of the clock is well advanced, and consumes the D in GOLD and a nearby ampersand. Well struck from rusted dies, as made. Listed on page 70 of the 2009 Guide Book.
