Description

Amazing 1791 Washington Large Eagle Cent, MS65 Brown

1791 1C Washington Large Eagle Cent MS65 Brown PCGS. Baker-15, W-10610, R.2. A glorious specimen of this elusive issue that is very difficult to find in full Gem grades as seen here. The strike is exceptional for this issue. Note the complete epaulet on Washington's shoulder, a device which is so often poorly defined on most examples. The surfaces show scattered handling nicks, including a tiny nick on Washington's cheek on a horizontal line back from the lower edge of his nose which will serve for an identifier. On the reverse, the eagle shows complete feather definition on his wings, legs, and neck, areas which are frequently poorly struck. No problematic spots or carbon issues. Any collector lucky enough to purchase this coin will cherish it for years to come. Listed on page 77 of the 2010 Guide Book. Population: 4 in 65 Brown, 1 finer (2/10).
