Description

1795 Talbot, Allum & Lee Cent
PR66 Red and Brown, Fuld-1

1795 Cent Talbot, Allum & Lee Cent PR66 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. Fuld-1, W-8620. The merchants Talbot, Allum & Lee engaged in trade with India from their store at 241 Pearl St. in New York. These coppers were made in England in 1794 and 1795 at a time when the U.S. Mint was still struggling to produce sufficient quantities of copper cents and half cents. British collectors consider them Conder tokens and collect them as such. The vibrant sunset-orange of the margins contrasts with the subtle violet-brown shadings that grace the fields. A sharply struck and strongly mirrored specimen, carefully preserved with tremendous eye appeal for this post-Colonial proof issue. Listed on page 72 of the 2012 Guide Book.
Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 4/2008), lot 37.
