    Very Rare Lord Baltimore Fourpence

(1659) 4PENCE Lord Baltimore Fourpence VF20 PCGS. Breen-74. Significantly rarer than any other denomination of Lord Baltimore silver, though the market has typically only given it a slight premium (perhaps due to its smaller size). Weak at V of denomination and part of CAECILIUS but overall a strong example of this classic coinage. Rare in all denominations. From the same era as Massachusetts' Pine Tree Shillings but a much smaller issue (produced in London rather than in the colonies). Listed on page 19 of the 2002 Guide Book.
    From the David Bruce Collection.
