1903 G$1 Louisiana Purchase, Jefferson Gold Dollar With Original Box, Uncertified. The coin is sharply struck and brilliant orange-gold with beautiful eye appeal. A loupe reveals a few trivial hairlines on the reverse. Although Swiatek had not seen an original distribution envelope for the Louisiana Purchase gold dollars, the current coin is accompanied by its original box, a small 1.25-inch white cardboard square box printed dark type on the cover: LOUISIANA PURCHASE / 1904 / EXPOSITION / SOUVENIR / GOLD DOLLAR / Jefferson - $3.00 - McKinley. The box has three torn corners but is otherwise Fine. The present cataloger has never seen a similar distribution box for the Louisiana Purchase coins -- it is extremely rare. The coin also includes the original cellophane sleeve that once held the coin. In total, this is a spectacular original coin/sleeve/box set.Ex: Baltimore Auction (Stack's Bowers, 3/2013), lot 4002.
