Description

1904 Lewis and Clark Gold Dollar, MS67
High-End CAC Type Coin

1904 G$1 Lewis and Clark Gold Dollar MS67 PCGS. CAC. A satiny Superb Gem example of this early classic commemorative gold issue, showing warm honey-gold color with no obvious abrasions. The 1904 Lewis and Clark gold dollar was struck as a souvenir coin for the Louis and Clark Centennial Exposition held in Portland in 1905. It is a "twin" issue to the 1905-dated coin of the same type and purpose. Although similar in availability overall, the 1904 issue is slightly more available in high grade than the 1905. Still, examples are scarce in MS67, and finer pieces are prohibitively rare. Population: 32 in 67 (4 in 67+), 2 finer. CAC: 10 in 67, 0 finer (6/23).(Registry values: N7079)
