    Description

1905 Lewis and Clark Gold Dollar, MS64
    A Lustrous, Well-Preserved Example

1905 G$1 Lewis and Clark MS64 PCGS. CAC. A Centennial Exposition was held in Portland, Oregon in 1905 to commemorate the famous Lewis and Clark Expedition. Gold dollars dated 1904 and 1905 were sold in order to finance a bronze memorial of the expedition's female Native American guide, Sacagawea. Despite nearly identical mintage figures, the 1905 issue is definitely scarcer than the 1904.

This example is sharply struck and displays an attractive mixture of antique-gold and light orange-gold coloration. Intense mint luster shimmers over the carefully preserved, distraction-free surfaces.(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# BYLG, PCGS# 7448)

    Weight: 1.70 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper

The marketing was exceptional from the photos to the ads in Civil War Times and North South Trader for the cross over people!!! I have had many emails from my Civil War collecting fraternity that saw these and I saw them at the national show in Nashville/Franklin in early December.
