    Description

1905 Lewis and Clark Gold Dollar, MS66
    Exemplary Quality and Aesthetic Appeal

1905 G$1 Lewis and Clark MS66 PCGS. A total of 35,041 Lewis and Clark gold dollars dated 1905 were struck, but sales were apparently so poor that slightly more than 10,000 were distributed, and the remainder melted (David Bowers, A Guide Book of United States Commemorative Coins).
The frosty surfaces of this Premium Gem display excellent luster and variegated greenish-gold and apricot coloration, and are devoid of post-strike impairments. Moreover, a solid strike leaves the design features sharply impressed. This piece generates exemplary technical quality and aesthetic appeal, and as such is sure to generate spirited bidding. Population: 67 in 66, 3 finer (11/11).(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# BYLG, PCGS# 7448)

    Weight: 1.70 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper

With the superb catalog, a masterwork prepared by Mark Borckhardt, the sale was destined to meet all of my expectations; that it did, and then some. Be assured that I would highly recommend Heritage Auctions to any of my associates contemplating the sale
