    Description

    Collectible Gem Pan-Pac Quarter Eagle

1915-S $2 1/2 Panama-Pacific Quarter Eagle MS66 PCGS. An extraordinary example of this conditionally challenging commemorative gold coin. The surfaces are uniformly bright and lustrous with no variation in hue on either side. Neither are there any obvious abrasions present on this wonderfully original and attractive coin. Struck to commemorate the Panama-Pacific Exposition in 1915, the exposition had a dual purpose: to commemorate the opening of the Panama Canal the previous year, and to also publicize how far San Francisco had rebounded from the devastating earthquake in 1906.
