    Description

    Desirable Near-Gem 1915-S Panama-Pacific Octagonal Slug

1915-S $50 Panama-Pacific 50 Dollar Octagonal MS 64 PCGS. The dearth of Gem quality representatives guarantees this coin's status as one of the most appealing Pan-Pac Octagonals extant. Matte-like in texture, the surfaces are originally colored in green-gold shades. Both sides show myriad die polish lines (as produced) under a loupe, but there is a decided lack of abrasions even for the MS 64 grade level. In fact, were it not for a single, shallow scrape in the left obverse field, this coin would probably qualify for an MS 65 designation. Nonetheless, the eye appeal is splendid for this impressive gold commemorative. (NGC ID# BYHP, PCGS# 7452)
