    Description

Nearly Uncirculated 1915-S Pan-Pac Slug, Octagonal Format

1915-S $50 Panama-Pacific 50 Dollar Octagonal AU58 NGC. The 1915-S Panama-Pacific Fifty is the second regular issue coin in U.S. history that depicts the date in Roman numerals. (The first is the High Relief Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle of 1907.) The Octagonal design is more plentiful than the Round variant in today's market, but it still commands both respect and solid bids from gold Commemorative specialists. This coin offers a lot of technical quality and eye appeal for the AU58 level. The rub is light, confined to the highpoints of the design, and barely perceptible. Pleasing green-gold color blankets both sides with swirls of deeper patination on the obverse behind Athena's neck and on the reverse at the M in PANAMA. There are only a few well scattered distractions, the only mentionable one of which is a shallow scrape on Athena's cheek. Worthy of a strong bid.
