    1915-S Panama-Pacific Fifty, Unc Details
The Key to the Classic Commemoratives

1915-S $50 Panama-Pacific 50 Dollar Round -- Filed Rims -- PCGS Genuine. Unc Details. The Panama-Pacific fifty dollar gold pieces are far and away the keys to the classic commemorative series. Both the round and octagonal versions were struck with mintages of only 1,500 coins, of which most were later melted as unsold. The round variant is the scarcer of the two, with a net distribution of only 483 pieces.

The phrase "affordable Pan-Pac fifty" is something of an oxymoron, but the present coin is about as affordable as this issue can come, with few exceptions. This unworn round Pan-Pac "slug" is details-graded by PCGS due to some faint file marks on the rims -- file marks that are mostly hidden by the PCGS holder and therefore have virtually no effect on the visual presentation. The coin is well-struck, with satiny yellow-gold surfaces that show some faint hairline handling marks in the fields and on Minerva's cheek. A pleasing example for a details-graded coin.(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# BYHP, PCGS# 7451)
