Marvelous 1916 McKinley Gold Dollar, Premium Gem

1916 G$1 McKinley MS66 NGC. McKinley gold dollars were struck in 1916 and 1917 to help finance the construction of a memorial to the slain president in his birthplace of Niles, Ohio. The 1916 had an distribution of approximately 15,000 pieces, which is about three times the number of pieces struck in 1917. Charming apricot-yellow patina endows the virtually pristine surfaces of the present example. Exquisite satiny luster shimmers from both sides and gives this piece great eye appeal. NGC reports just 59 finer examples (7/08).(Registry values: N2998)
