Description
1922 With Star Grant Gold Dollar, MS68
Tied for the Finest Known
1922 G$1 Grant Gold Dollar, With Star, MS68 PCGS. Tied with
just two others as the finest With Star Grant gold dollar at PCGS
and finer than any No Star coin at that service (7/16). Grant
Memorial gold dollars of both varieties are usually available for a
price, but in MS68, this issue becomes a sought-after rarity.
Recently, a numerically comparable MS68 With Star coin from the
Paul Denby Collection realized $18,800 in our Central States
Signature sale (Heritage, 4/2016), lot 4870. The present piece is
arguably finer in regards to eye appeal, showing beautiful
yellow-gold, peach-orange, and pale rose hues over glistening,
flawless surfaces. The strike is sharp. A finer With Star Grant
gold dollar may simply not exist.(Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# BYPS, PCGS# 7459, Greysheet# 10212)
