    Description

Original Shreve & Co. Panama-Pacific Five-Piece Set Holder.

Original Holder for the Five-Piece Panama-Pacific Set. An original hammered copper frame made by Shreve & Co. of San Francisco, designed to hold an original five-coin set of the Panama-Pacific commemorative coins. The plush violet interior and informational tags show only the slightest evidence of fading, and the frame and glass are carefully preserved with lovely olive patina on the former. The only significant flaws appear on the reverse, where the pull-out tab to make the holder a standalone display is missing. A small puncture appears in the center of the void as well. Still, the piece displays beautifully.
Also included is a typed letter signed and dated December 3, 1968, by one Wes Ford, attesting to the authenticity of the coins once housed in the holder. It is an interesting addition to the provenance of this fascinating lot.
