Description

1900 Lafayette Dollar, MS64
Attractive Border Toning, CAC Endorsed

1900 $1 Lafayette Dollar, DuVall 1-B, MS64 NGC. CAC. The typical Lafayette dollar -- an issue that was sold in great numbers to the non-collecting general public -- is often lightly circulated and sometimes cleaned. All original Lafayette dollars are scarce in near-Gem Uncirculated grades and rare in full Gem condition or finer. This DuVall 1-B example is an available variety showing the A in DOLLAR leaning left, with the lower-left serif significantly below the adjacent L. Original border toning features steel-blue and russet colors ceding to reddish-gold interiors. The underlying surfaces exhibit a vibrant and frosty appearance, being essentially free of coin-to-coin contact. This is a sharply struck coin with CAC endorsement indicating high quality within its assigned grade.
