Description

1900 $1 Lafayette Dollar MS62 NGC. In the mid-1940s after hearing a rumor, collector/dealer Aubrey Beebe of Chicago and then Omaha, inquired whether Lafayette dollars were stored in the Treasury Building. Unfortunately, his inquiry came a few months too late as the bags had existed, but they had been shipped off and melted. This lovely MS62 example displays areas of attractive gold toning near the central obverse. Although scattered marks are present, none poses a distraction.
