Description
Lustrous Gem Lafayette Dollar
1900 $1 Lafayette Dollar MS65 NGC. DuVall 1-B. A nearly brilliant Gem that boasts intense cartwheel sheen. Specialists know that it is difficult to locate Lafayette dollars with vibrant luster, since so many have been dipped or wiped over the years. It is also unusual to find an example with essentially unabraded surfaces. Washington's cheek has a couple of faint ticks, but these are from the planchet prior to the strike and are invariably present on the type. The strike is bold with only trivial incompleteness on Lafayette's book. Although Lafayette dollars are available in lower Mint State grades, it is a frustrating task to locate high quality examples. Save the hard work, and instead simply view the present lot.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# BYKW, PCGS# 9222, GSID# 10321)
