1900 $1 Lafayette Dollar MS66 PCGS. DuVall 1-B. Commemorative coinage enthusiasts may wish to pursue a die variety collection of Lafayette dollars, including five die marriages that Frank DuVall catalogs as 1-A (scarce), 1-B (common), 2-C (common), 3-D (scarce), and 4-E (rare). Struck in December 1899, the Lafayette dollars were partially funded by donations from American school children. This Premium Gem features fully lustrous silver-gray surfaces with gold toning splashes on the obverse and peripheral gold, rose, and blue toning on the reverse. PCGS has certified just six numerically finer Lafayette dollars (12/25).(Registry values: N4719)
