Description

1918 Illinois Centennial Half, MS67+
Exemplary Quality and Luster

1918 50C Lincoln MS67+ PCGS. Celebrating the 100-year anniversary of Illinois' statehood, the unbearded portrait of a contemplative young Abraham Lincoln is radiant and fully defined against an iridescent backdrop of frosty, light toning. Shades of tan-gold and cerulean-blue come to the fore at the margins. The champagne-gold reverse is equally lustrous and sharply struck, with complete plumage on the eagle's breast. The issue typically shows small marks on the portrait, but not here -- the high-end, Superb Gem surfaces are without fault and exceptionally appealing. 23 in 67+, 3 finer (1/17).(Registry values: N2998)
