    Description

    Originally Toned Gem Monroe Half

1923-S 50C Monroe MS65 NGC. The Monroe half is one of the most conditionally challenging issues in the entire commemorative series. Its surfaces are normally generously abraded, especially on the jugate busts on the obverse. The only mentionable flaws on this piece are a couple of marks over the eyebrow of President Adams. The surfaces are unusually lustrous and each side is covered with light gray-rose toning that deepens to an occasional dab of russet around the margins. Population: 199 in 65, 48 finer (4/03).
