Description

1925-S 50C California MS67 PCGS. The California Jubilee half, designed by Joseph Mora, has received near-universal acclaim for his design of the '49er miner and the bear. This includes critics as widely disparate as David Bullowa, B. Max Mehl, and Cornelius Vermeule. The sole exception was James Earle Fraser, who recommended that Chester Beach or Robert Aitken redesign the coin. Time has proved the California half to be a collector favorite and high grade examples are scarce and always sought-after. This is a wonderfully preserved piece that has bright, shimmering mint luster and just a bit of peripheral color. Population: 85 in 67, 5 finer (2/10).(Registry values: N2998)
