Description

    1926 Sesquicentennial Half MS66
    None Finer at PCGS

1926 50C Sesquicentennial MS66 PCGS. Both the low-relief design and the subsequent preservation of the 1926 Sesquicentennial half dollar issue are largely to blame for the paucity of survivors today at this Premium Gem level, where PCGS has seen only eight submissions with none finer (3/13). Mint chief engraver John Sinnock created designs for the half dollar which were deemed unsatisfactory, and a committee ended up specifying that the final coins be struck in low relief. Predictably, they struck up poorly. This piece shows beautiful color, gold and amber tinges with deeper copper hues on both sides. Marks are minimal and mostly confined to the lower portrait areas. Population: 8 in 66, 0 finer (3/13).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# BYJ4, PCGS# 9374)

    Weight: 12.50 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
