Description

Illustrious 1928 Hawaiian, MS64

1928 50C Hawaiian MS64 NGC. This pleasing example has a delightful blend of heather, pewter, golden-brown, and lime toning on each side. Both sides are fully lustrous with satiny surfaces. The Hawaiian half dollar is an important low-mintage type issue, although pieces are generally available in a wide range of grades. NGC and PCGS have actually combined to certify 37% of the original mintage. Included with the lot is a Sept. 17, 1984 letter from the Captain Cook Coin Co. of Honolulu, Inc., signed by Craig Watanabe, testifying that a certain Hawaiian half (not included) is #7 of eight examples from the estate of Juliette May Fraser, designer of the Hawaiian Half.
