Description
Key 1928 Hawaiian Half Dollar, MS65
1928 50C Hawaiian MS65 NGC. The Hawaiian Commemorative half dollar is the key to the commemorative series. The issue enjoyed a small mintage of 9,958 pieces, mostly distributed in the Hawaiian islands, outside of numismatic channels. Q. David Bowers opines, "Examples are elusive in all grades and are highly prized." The issue is rare in grades higher than MS65. The present coin is a pleasing example, with unabraded surfaces and a delightful lilac patina. From The Steven Forcier Collection of U.S. Classic Commemoratives.(Registry values: N2998)
