1936 50C Delaware MS68 PCGS....
Description
1936 Delaware Half, MS68
None Numerically Finer
1936 50C Delaware MS68 PCGS. In 1638, Swedish settlers
arrived in Delaware Bay at Port Cristina on three ships: the
Kalmar, the Nyckel, and the Fogel Grip. The
Tercentenary of the event was set for 1938, but Delawareans proved
over eager and began proposals for their commemorative in 1936 and
would then strike them in 1937. Sales of the issue were well
received, with a mintage of 25,017 pieces, and just 4,022 coins
remained unsold before being melted, a moderate amount compared to
some other commemoratives of the same year. This example displays some silver luster, though the coin is primarily enveloped by the deep russet-reds, coppery-browns, and vibrant citrus-yellows toning. Light abrasions can be seen on the devices, but prove negligible to this well-struck example's eye appeal. Between both PCGS and NGC, there have been no examples that exceed Superb Gem Uncirculated, making this a pristine Registry coin. PCGS Population: 10 in 68 (2 in 68+), 0 finer (3/26).(Registry values: N2998)
