Description

1936 Gettysburg Half Dollar, MS67+
Tab-Toned, Nearly Pristine

1936 50C Gettysburg MS67+ PCGS. CAC. The 75th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg occurred in 1938, but that did not prevent the issue of its commemorative half dollar two years early. Gettysburg is the best-known battle of the Civil War, and high-grade examples remain desirable today. This is a tab-toned example with golden-brown peripheral obverse patina. A lens is required to locate the few trivial imperfections. PCGS has certified only 60 pieces as MS67+, and just seven coins finer as MS68 (6/23).(Registry values: N1793)
