Description
Dazzling MS66 Prooflike 1936 Rhode Island
Ex: Bagne Collection
1936 50C Rhode Island MS66 Prooflike NGC. The Bagne
Collection is a wonderful example of how numismatics can be
tailored for the individual collector. All one needs is to know
what one wants. Prooflike commemoratives are not especially rare as
such, nor are they especially expensive. But when seen as a
collection they have extraordinary visual presence. The average
collector simply does not see this many Prooflike commemoratives in
one place at one time. This is certainly an appealing Rhode Island.
The fields are brightly reflective, and there is no contrast
between fields and devices, much the same as regular-issue proofs
stuck in the early years of the 20th century. The centers are
brilliant and surrounded by dusky russet hues at the margins. The
surfaces are essentially mark-free, as one would expect from the
MS66 designation. NGC has certified seven other P-mint Rhode
Islands in this lofty grade and none are finer (10/09).From The Jerry Bagne Collection of Prooflike Commemoratives.
