    Outstanding 1936 Texas Half, MS68

1936 50C Texas MS68 NGC. Though Cornelius Vermeule admired the Texas design, if for no other reason than its success at incorporating so many elements into one space, many numismatic scholars find the reverse far too chaotic for a half dollar. Nonetheless, most collectors today acknowledge the artistry of the coin. The vivid orange, magenta, and forest-green patina that covers the obverse and much of the reverse generates much of this 1936 example's eye appeal. Glints of brilliance appear beneath silver-gray toning over the lower half of Victory and the Alamo. Neither NGC nor PCGS has graded an MS69 representative (3/07).
