Exquisite 1936-D Columbia Half, MS68

1936-D 50C Columbia MS68 NGC. The Columbia issues of 1936 were one of several low-mintage sets designed to feed the speculative commemorative market, with production of just 8,000 pieces per mint plus assay coins. Deep russet-gold toning is noted at the periphery, as is paler lavender-champagne patina at the centers. The immensely lustrous surfaces display exquisite preservation, with hardly any marks present on the crisply struck devices. A wonderful treat, with no numerically finer representative graded by either NGC or PCGS. Census: 44 in 68, 0 finer (2/10).
