1937 50C Antietam MS68 PCGS Gold Shield. CAC. The reverse displays only a whisper of russet patina, but the obverse border shows rich ruby-red, peach-gold, and aquamarine toning. A lustrous high-grade example of the popular issue, which commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam. Lots 4423 through 4427 exhibit consecutive certification numbers and were stored together in the original holder for more than eight decades. The holder is offered in the present lot, with printing on the back that lists all nine members of the Washington County Historical Society Commemorative Coin Committee.
