Description

Amazing 1938 Texas Half Dollar, MS68

1938 50C Texas MS68 PCGS. CAC. The 1938 Texas half dollars were the last of the design, and the Philadelphia Mint produced a mere 3,780 of those coins. The Texas half dollars were first minted and distributed in 1934, two years before the 1836 Centennial, and they continued for two years after the event.
This piece is apparently a recent submission to PCGS, because they show no such coins in their population report. A total of 34 pieces grade MS67 and they are the best that appear on the PCGS census. This MS68 has fully brilliant and satiny silver surfaces with ivory luster and vivid iridescent toning comprised mainly of brilliant rainbow colors.(Registry values: N4719)
