    Description

    1936 Cincinnati Half, MS67
    Tied for the Finest Certified

1936 50C Cincinnati MS67 PCGS. Although Stephen Foster was a Pennsylvania native son, Cincinnati claimed him for Ohio, based on his first successful songs, written in 1848-1850 while working as a bookkeeper at his brother's Cincinnati-based steamship company. The connection to Cincinnati was tenuous at best, as was the claim that Cincinnati was the "Music Center of America," and the one-year 1936 issue was sold almost exclusively to speculators and privileged collectors. Scarce in Superb Gem condition and unknown in numerically finer grades, this MS67 example displays smooth and frosted surfaces, with softly lustrous silver-gray surfaces. Traces of tan-gold toning add eye appeal. Population: 27 in 67 (3 in 67+), 0 finer (5/19).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# BYCJ, PCGS# 9283)

    Weight: 12.50 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
