1939 50C Arkansas MS67 PCGS. June 15, 1836 was the date that Arkansas was admitted to the United States. Arkansas was earlier part of the Louisiana Purchase, and eventually became Arkansas Territory before statehood. The Arkansas commemorative half dollars were authorized to support celebrations of the 100th anniversary of statehood, although they were first minted a year earlier in 1935, and continued through 1939, a five-year celebration. All five years were coined at Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco, a total of 15 different issues. Mintages were small in the later years, just 2,100 plus assay coins in 1939. This Superb Gem has satiny silver luster and bold design features with pristine surfaces and delicate peripheral gold toning. Population: 4 in 67 (1 in 67+), 0 finer (11/18).
