Description

NGC 1936 York MS 67. The York along with the Elgin and Iowa are all coins that look terrific in any grade. In MS 65 the York is a great looking coin with superb luster. This coin is not any more lustrous than a 65 or cleaner than a 66, but it does have tonal qualities that are simply unparalleled in our experience with this popular issue. The previous owner(s) obviously left this coin in whatever environment was responsible for producing the rich golden-russet toning that is seen around the devices on each side. On the obverse the deeper patina only partially conceals an underlying rainbow of colors. Original and untampered with since the day of issue, this is a York for the commemorative specialist to closely examine and consider how it would fit in an advanced set.
