French Colony. Said Ali Ibn Said Omar silvered-copper Pattern 5 Francs AH 1308 (1890) MS64 PCGS, Paris mint, KM-Unl., Maz-Unl., Lec-7. Reeded edge; without mint mark. A very attractive colonial piece with striking weapon designs that feature a cannon, a Khanjar dagger and sword attached, a bow, a gun, an arrow and an assegai. This near-Gem example is just the fourth example of this enigmatic Essai/Pattern type we've yet handled, and remains a fantastic opportunity for the French colonial-type collector who values conditional and visual superiority.
