Description

1882 $50 Date Back, Milmo N.B. of Laredo, TX

1882 $50 National Currency, Fr-563, Fine, The Milmo National Bank of Laredo, Texas, Charter #2486. Certainly not a bank for the common man during the Second Charter period, only issuing notes in $50 and $100 denominations. Just 22 banks in the entire state of Texas issued $50 Date Backs, but this is exceeded only by Illinois and Pennsylvania, with 28 banks each. Unlike the Philpott plate note in the Friedberg catalog, coincidentally from the identical South Texas bank, both the cashier's and president's signatures are quite bold.

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2BNJ, PCGS# 10563, GSID# 11656)
