Description
An interesting group of autographed stage money, thirteen pieces in all, that was assembled by Kansas numismatist Ted Hammer, probably in the 1930s and 40s. One is signed by a rather famous numismatic name, Adolph Menjou, once an owner of one of the five 1913 Liberty nickels. Boxer Jack Dempsey is also represented, while the other signatures are primarily Hollywood celebrities, the most famous names being Clark Cable, Joan Crawford, Pat O'Brien, and Mae West. A few of the lesser known autographs are identified by Hammer in an enclosed 1979 letter.
