7743 - The First National Bank of Elko, Nevada
Cashier: R.H. Mallett, President: Oscar J. Smith
Double Serial Number 1981 - R27176, 1 example is known.
This Eastern Nevada bank issued 11,000 $5 red seal notes. This is the only example known to have survived. The bank's outstanding circulation of large size notes remains at slightly over $6,000. Despite the popularity of national notes for the last 20 years, no new Elko red seals have appeared. This note was plated by Warns in his book and continues to be one of the few known Nevada red seals. Extremely rare.
