Description

Christian IV Speciedaler 1590 AU58 NGC, Dav-8230, Hede-43. Extremely rare as a type, with this specimen certainly being among the finest that survive, with intermingled gray and gold tone in the centers that transitions to blue in brief instances at the peripheries. Light handling accounts for the grade, yet minimal highpoint loss is observed over either side, and unlike the only other example we've located in archived auction data, the surfaces hold relatively few marks. That piece, sold in Europe, and likely the equivalent of an XF on the Sheldon scale, brought 6450 Euros hammer in a Bruun Rasmussen auction in 2014. Considering this coin's clear superiority, we can only anticipate even greater enthusiasm from country specialist as well as collectors of elite world crowns.
