Description
Frederick V 6 Marks (Reisedaler) 1749W, D-1301, 27.12g, MS63 NGC. Struck to the Krone fineness of .833, which probably indicates a crown intended for home use rather than trade purposes. This is one of a number of special issues minted for a Danish sovereign when he traveled his kingdoms of Denmark/Norway. Minted under the auspices by the Danish-Asiatic Company to commemorate the 300th Anniversary of the House of Oldenburg/Denmark. Well-struck on a nice flan. Original, lightly toned surfaces with underlying luster and no significant flaws. Undoubtedly, one of the finer surviving examples of this rare issue. From the Grundy Collection.
