    Description

    1798 Small 8 Dime, JR-3
    A Scarce Variety

1798 10C Small 8, JR-3, R.5, PCGS Genuine. The PCGS number ending in .92 suggests Cleaning as the reason, or perhaps one of the reasons, that PCGS deemed this coin not gradable. In our opinion, this coin has the details of an AU specimen that has been whizzed. The microgranularity produced by this surface alteration is visible under 10x magnification. The coin is otherwise olive-gray and gold in color with an even strike and excellent detail. Heavy horizontal adjustment marks appear on the obverse (mint made). JR-3 is a scarce variety in all grades.
