Description
1798/97 13 Stars on Reverse Fine 12 NGC. JR-2, R.6. The scarcest variety of the year, this is a very distinctive overdate with the 8 small and punched over a plain 7 underdigit. Evenly worn over both sides, the light gray fields are accented by pale pinkish tinged patina on the devices. Heavily die clashed on the obverse with a few small marks on the reverse. Only an estimated 5% of all 1798 dimes are of this variety.
