    Description

1798/97 10C 13 Stars on Reverse--Scratched--ANACS Net Good 4. JR-2, R.6. Since only 5% of extant 1798 Dimes are of this variety (per the John Reich Collectors Society, 1984), it is little wonder that JR-2 is the rarest die marriage of the year. The present example retains bold definition on the 7 underdigit and otherwise even wear that becomes a bit more extensive toward the lower left obverse and left reverse borders. Olive-gray toning yields to lilac-gray hues in the centers. There are several moderate scratches over and around Liberty's portrait. An important bidding opportunity for the early Dime specialist, nonetheless.
