Description

Partly Lustrous Choice AU 1800 Dime

1800 10C AU55 PCGS. JR-1, R.4. On this variety, the obverse shows a die dot over curl #1, another between the 1 and the 8 in the date, and the reverse displays star 12 touching the motto ribbon, but not the eagle's beak. The deliveries of dimes in 1800 were made in two deliveries; 16,760 pieces on March 25, and 5,000 coins on March 26.
This Choice AU example displays semi-bright silver-gray surfaces imbued with wisps of light tan, and the retention of luster in the protected areas. Nice definition graces Liberty's hair and drapery and the eagle's wing feathers. Even the often-weak breast of the eagle shows fairly good delineation. The few light marks on the obverse do not distract. Population: 3 in 55, 8 finer (8/07).
