    Description

    Elusive 1801 JR-1 Dime, AU53

1801 10C AU53 NGC. JR-1, R.4. Slightly more plentiful than the JR-2 die marriage; however, neither variety is common in such a high grade. 1801 dimes are more common than 1802, 1803, and 1804, but clearly rarer than 1805 and 1807. They are about equal in overall rarity to 1800.
Both sides have pleasing pewter surfaces beneath pale champagne toning with traces of sky-blue. The surfaces have their usual quota of small handling marks, but the overall quality is just fine. The obverse has faint clash marks and minor die rust, while the reverse is peppered with tiny rust marks.(Registry values: P7) (NGC ID# 236J, PCGS# 4471)

    Weight: 2.70 grams

    Metal: 89.24% Silver, 10.76% Copper
