Description
Wonderful 1802 JR-4 Dime, AU55
1802 10C AU55 PCGS. JR-4, R.4. The JR-4 die combination is the most plentiful of four known varieties of 1802 dimes, yet it is still rated R.4, meaning that less than 200 are known. It is probably accurate to say that about half that number actually exist. In fact, there are perhaps just 200 known 1802 dimes of all varieties, and nearly every one of those is well worn, and/or damaged. This beautiful dime bright silver surfaces with satin luster and hints of gold toning along the borders. The central obverse and reverse of this nicely centered piece are weakly defined, as nearly always for the issue, and faint surface marks are consistent with the grade. An outstanding opportunity for the advanced date or variety collector. Population: 4 in 55, 5 finer (8/08).(Registry values: P7)
