    1802 JR-4 Dime, XF Details
    Better Draped Bust Date

1802 10C JR-4, R.4 -- Environmental Damage -- PCGS Genuine. XF Details. JR-4 is scarce, but is the most available of the four 1802 dime varieties. The record mintage of dimes in 1802 was 10,975 pieces, nearly as small as in 1804 (8,265 coins). This JR-4 representative shows deep olive-gray color with an area of brighter amber on the upper reverse. The strike is even, although considerable weakness persists in the centers, as usual. Wear is trivial, but faint surface corrosion precludes a numeric grade.
