    1802 Dime, JR-4, VG10
    Pleasing Detail Remaining

1802 10C JR-4, R.4, VG10 PCGS. Stars 1, 7, and 8 distant from curl 2, L, and Y in LIBERTY, respectively, attribute the obverse, with the eagle's lower beak biting down on star 12 diagnosing the reverse. The JR-4 is the most available of the four 1802 dime varieties, even though it is still very scarce. The rose-gray surfaces of this piece are well- but evenly worn, showing a modicum of pleasing detail remaining for the major devices on each side. A few stray scrapes are as expected at this grade level.
