    Description

Radiant Gem 1805 4 Berries Heraldic Eagle Dime

1805 10C 4 Berries MS65 NGC. JR-2, R.2. The more available of two die pairings (represented by the 4 berries and 5 berries varieties) for the year, especially at the Mint State level, and the logical choice to represent the Draped Bust Heraldic Eagle type. The official mintage for both varieties of 120,780 pieces ranks second behind the final year 1807.
Among the Uncirculated pieces we have offered through the years (which is in reality a fairly short list), this eye appealing Gem is easily one of the most memorable. Both sides exhibit a radiant, satiny glow with rich burnt-orange and steel-blue peripheral toning seen primarily on the obverse. The striking details are well pronounced with partial definition seen on the eagle's breast, just lacking a bit of highpoint definition on Liberty's lower hair curls and at the center of the eagle's shield. Trivial planchet streaks are noted on each side and faint signs of die clashing can be detected on the obverse. Population: 15 in 65, 9 finer (11/03).(#4477) (Registry values: P5) (NGC ID# 236S, PCGS# 4477)

    Weight: 2.70 grams

    Metal: 89.24% Silver, 10.76% Copper
